Houston County Archive Volunteers passionate for genealogy

Local women donate their free time in
helping preserve the county's history.
ERIN, TENN. — With more than 140 years worth of records to organize, Melissa Barker, Houston County archivist, is thrilled to have two hardworking volunteers who freely donate their time. 

Anne Sykes and Leah Baggett donate their time to preserve, protect and help make information easy accessible to the public. 

“They have been a huge help,” said Barker, who refers to the two women as the “backbone of the archives.”  

After attending one of Barker’s genealogy classes at the Houston County Library, Sykes and Baggett were more than happy to lend a helping hand with the archives...
